Those were the afternoons. Evenings

traveling the lit path of the needle
through quicksand

or velvet deep as a forest.

And
then it was day again, all morning
at the office machines, their clack and chatter
another journey -- rougher,
that
would go on forever
until she could break a hundred words
with no errors -- ah, and then
no more postponed groceries,
and
that blue pair of shoes!
'Miss Indpendent' and 'My Mother Enetrs the Work Force' seem very similar to me. They both are talking
about freedom and representing how important it is for a woman to have her own independence and obtaining the ability to
things on her own. They also point out that women feel impowered when they are able to be independent from others and have
a sense of new feelings when they over come the olden day streotype of a woman needs a man to survive.
Rita and Oprah
To me Rita and Oprah can be compareable women. Oprah is a very powerful woman that is very successful at what ever she
does. Rita is also a very powerful and briliant woman who has worked very hard to become a very successful well known
poet, winning many awards coming along way since her first award. Oprah like Rita lets nothing stand in her way
to become the woman she is today.
